The Outcomes Analyst Intern, under the direct coaching and supervision of Director of Analytics Strategy, will be responsible for applying their analytical, statistical, and data skills to develop analytics applications that assist healthcare business leaders in making informed decisions.

How you will make an impact:

  • Gathering requirements through stakeholder and voice of the customer interviews

  • Working with various internal and external teams to collect, analyze, and interpret data sets

  • Synthesizing data into easy-to-consume storylines, building analytics visualizations, and provide recommended actions for executive audiences

  • Designing data models and completing the necessary data cleansing or extraction, translation, and load processes using SQL, LookML, or Tableau Prep tools

  • Providing input on more complex data models and statistical functions required to create interactive self-service analytics applications

  • Designing, building, testing, and documenting analytics applications in Looker or Tableau

  • Presenting results of projects including findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders

  • Opportunity to do innovative work designed to provide executives and customers with meaningful outcomes reporting that demonstrates the value of our products

  • Gain relevant industry and hands-on product and development experience including:

    • Working with claims, eligibility, member, and provider data

    • Using data stored in a Snowflake database in the Google Cloud Platform

Projects for this role:

  • Client Outcomes Analytics: Assist our advocacy programs with quantifying the impact of their programs on care delivery and total cost of care using risk adjusted clinical groupers

  • Program Integrity Reporting: Understanding the impact of our fraud, waste, and abuse data science concepts

  • Internal Executive Reporting: Adding additional data sets and expanding the key performance indicators contained in internal executive reports

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 32 hours per week for the duration of the Summer 2023 internship (schedule flexible)

  • Actively pursuing a degree in a program that prepares you for data analytics in healthcare (analytics, informatics, programming, data science, engineering, mathematics, or similar)

  • A rising junior or senior candidate is preferred

  • Interest in continuing work up to 20 hours per week during the school year

  • Interest in a full-time opportunities post-graduation

  • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and a quick learner

  • Experience with SQL, Snowflake or other database tools preferred

  • Experience with Looker, and/or Tableau preferred

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
