A Population Health Intern will be responsible for learning about our business and what role Elevance Health plays in identifying population health inequities and managing member healthcare benefits and access to resources as part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan (FEHBP).

How you will make an impact:

  • Working with the clinical and business change team to identify approaches that align with the FEP MM strategy to identify members with health inequities and develop interventions.

  • Reviewing the MM roadmap and assess emerging opportunities.

  • Working with project resources to design and build the supporting infrastructure needed to launch the identified project initiative including population analyses using social and clinical data resources.

  • Detailing business requirements, processing, and program design, assessing training and communication needs, developing materials, engaging with supporting resources to determine task ownership, and building the needed infrastructure to support a successful implementation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the Summer 2023 internship

  • Rising senior actively pursuing a degree in Health Policy, Health Research, Sociology, Social work, Psychology, Health Education, or other health-related field at an accredited university during internship

  • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

  • Understanding of determinants to health that impact population outcomes

  • Ability to use analytical resources to identify population health opportunities

  • Understanding of epidemiology and public policy

  • Ability to identify solutions to barriers that impact overall health

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to design programs and strategies following the public health communication planning framework

  • Ability to serve as a health education resource person

  • Creative thinking

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to identify emerging opportunities

  • Passion for health education
