Business Information Developer Consultant

The  Business Information Developer Consultant  is responsible for developing and executing data mining analyses. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Determines how decision support systems will provide the data required to make effective business decisions.

  • Performs modeling of information sources and flows.

  • Develops strategic report applications from the Data Warehouse.

  • Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, programming languages, and data integrity issues.

  • Has some experience with developing and supporting complex data warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

  • The majority of time will be spent programming. 

  • Conducts training on use of applications developed.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop impactful data insights and support business operations requirements utilizing various output methods (automation, visualization, dashboards, reports). 

  • Work with large, messy, disparate datasets and conduct ad-hoc analyses to quickly inform critical business decisions. Create ETLs or processes that pull data from multiple places and centralize it in one table.

  • Has some experience with data visualization to monitor and quantify the impact of changes and unique business challenges.

  • Engage with team members and cross-functional teams on a periodic basis and establish credibility. Analyze stakeholder needs and partner with them to share relevant information. This includes partnering with various teams on data accuracy, completeness and latency across multiple operations and systems. 

  • Leverage scripting languages to automate activities made for reporting (Screenshots, metrics prioritization and outlier recognition).  

  • Document your processes and share your knowledge with your peers. Mentor your peers as you become a Subject Matter Expert.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a BS/BA degree

  • Minimum of 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experience

  • PC, spreadsheet, and database skills strongly preferred. 

  • Experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/query languages required.

  • Excellent SQL and SAS Skills with the ability to manipulate data from multiple tables while maintaining data integrity.

  • Business Operations fluency and the ability to both understand and interpret business problems.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Database skills required.

  • Experience with SAS and SQL required, advanced experience preferred.

  • Experience with Python or other scripting language.

  • Experience with data visualization and manipulation tools.

  • Experience in business operations, preferably in PBM or health care.
