Location: Indianapolis, IN and Mason, OH

This position will take part in Elevance Health's hybrid work model which includes remote work and 0-3 days in office per month.

The Tax Consultant is responsible for preparing a combination of corporate and partnership federal and state income tax returns and related estimated payments and performing basic tax law research.

How You Will Make an Impact :

  • Working within the tax information reporting function, including assisting with process automation efforts.

  • Filing Forms 1099 and related forms, researching technical issues, and responding to customer inquiries.

  • Preparing state backup withholding returns and reconciliations and timely depositing backup withholding with the IRS.

  • Preparing account reconciliations.

  • Responding to internal and external audit requests.

  • Prepares quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments.

  • Research current and new tax laws to support tax calculations and positions.

  • Preparing state and local tax returns.

  • Working with the investment department tax reporting.

  • Working with various tax systems.

  • Prepares assigned companies' federal and state income tax returns.

  • Actively looks for process improvements and tax savings.

  • Preparing income tax provisions.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires BS/BA in Accounting or Finance; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Experience in tax information reporting preferred.
