The primary goals of the Technology Project Manager are planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. IT Project managers plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed the entire way.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participates in project discovery activities.

  • Identifies project stakeholders and maintains the stakeholder register.

  • Produces and maintains project plans.

  • Assists in the team member selection, orientation, and training process

  • Guides the project team through project execution by:

    • Communicating team role expectations

    • Planning, monitoring, and appraising job results

    • Coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees

    • Coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures

  • Maintains a project RAID.

  • Assures effective project communication (Team meetings, Stakeholder meetings, Status reporting).

  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.

  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing project budget; scheduling resources; analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.

  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  • Assures that application results are verified by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years project management experience in broad-based information systems, full life-cycle application development and/or building enterprise applications and/or data warehouse planning and development with 2 years spent working in a lead role on one or more projects; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
