Location: MA-Boston, 1000 Washington St, 3rd Floor. This position is a primarily remote position, though will be required to come into the office periodically for trainings or meetings.

How will you make an impact: 

The Government Contracts Director (GCD) is responsible for overseeing the preparation, negotiation, acceptance, and management of contracts and subcontracts with both governmental and/or non-governmental organizations with which Carelon does business.

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Defines and develops procurement contracting and sub-contractor processes and procedures ensuring compliance with company policies, contractual and legal requirements, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

  • Administers contracts in accordance with customer and contractually required deliverables and FAR regulations. Conducts the preparation, negotiation, acceptance, and management of government contracts and subcontracts.

  • Reviews and approves all contractual documents for protection of company's contractual posture, satisfaction of government specifications and requirements, and adherence to company policy.

  • Advises management of contractual rights and obligations, and provides interpretation of terms and conditions.

  • Maintains and fosters relationships and workstreams as those relate to the contracts with communications, compliance, corporate and business administration, finance, human resources, legal, marketing, operations, risk management, technology, and treasury.

  • Specializes in conducting proposal preparation for new business development to include requests for proposals (RFPs), modification of existing contract(s), pre-contract data collection and administration of contracts.

  • Analyzes estimates of material, equipment, and production costs.

  • Reviews contractual documents to ensure adherence to company policy, government specifications and master agreements requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS in a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in government contracting processes and contract administrative systems; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. MBA preferred.

  • Ability to provide analysis of situations or data strongly preferred.

  • The ability to persuade others in sensitive complex situations while preserving relationships strongly preferred.
