Business Analytics Internship - Summer 2023

A Business Analytics Intern  will be responsible for critical analysis of large sets of data and summaries, developing and analyzing key business performance reports, and utilizing relational databases and query tools to create and publish reports. This Business Analyst Intern will be supporting Elevance Health’s Healthy Blue North Carolina Provider Solutions Organization for our Medicaid business.

  • Providing data driven solutions to support Value-Based contracting and Network Adequacy compliance

  • Creating greater care for our members, greater value for our customers, and greater health for our communities

  • Gaining relevant industry data and business intelligence experience within healthcare

Examples of projects for this role: 

  • Performing critical analysis of large sets of data and summarizes performance in Value-based arrangements.

  • Developing and analyzing business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and providing notations of performance deviations and anomalies.

  • Utilizing relational databases and knowledge of query tools to engage and process large data sets

  • Creating and publishing periodic reports

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program at an accredited college/university. Preferred majors are Business Analytics, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, Data Analytics, Data Science, Healthcare Administration, or related degree.

  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship. This internship will be a 10-week program will run from June 5th, 2023 – August 11th, 2023.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Previous experience working with large data sets is highly preferred

  • Familiarity/experience with developing business requirements is highly preferred

  • Previous experience with relational databases is highly preferred

  • Knowledge of query tools and statistical software is strongly preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel (i.e. pivot tables) is strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of SQL, Tableau and other Statistical Programming Languages is preferred

  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills
