Pharmacist Program Manager

Location: Hybrid, 0-3 times/month in office, with the ideal candidate located on the East Coast for client communication.

Responsible for serving as the primary contact for a specific pharmacy program which may be assigned by geographic location, business unit, or functional area. Responsible for the management of Medicare formulary and utilization management (UM) updates through weekly, monthly, and annual processes. This is primarily an operational role. This position works across departments to capture formulary and UM changes, ensure accuracy of claims adjudication, and regulatory compliance in a timely and accurate manner.

How you will make an impact:

  • Manages both internal and external stakeholder communications for assigned area.
  • Ensures the proper reaction to and resolution of issues concerning the pharmacy benefit program.
  • Acts as a support resource for internal teams regarding efforts to improve the performance of the pharmacy benefit for existing accounts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a registered pharmacist and minimum of 2 years of managed care pharmacy experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current state license to practice pharmacy as a RPH required.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Knowledge of current health care and managed care pharmacy practices strongly preferred.
  • Professional designation preferred.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
  • Experience with formulary design and claims operations, development and/or implementation of utilization management (UM) edits or criteria preferred.
  • Experience with intake of formulary and utilization management change requests for Medicare programs, claims monitoring, testing and validation of formulary and UM setup, analysis of large data sets related to formulary and UM, and related tasks.
  • Three or more years’ experience working with pharmacy benefit management operations, or an equivalent background.
  • Experience working with government programs (Medicare or Healthcare Exchange Marketplace).
  • Highly organized and ability to function in environment with 100% accuracy requirements, very high level of attention to detail, multiple concurrent demands and projects, ad-hoc urgent requests, and short turnaround times.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours during peak times or in response to urgent requests.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $115,120 to $207,216.
