Location: Seattle, WA (field position with up to 50% travel) - will consider candidates out of state but MUST reside in Seattle by date of hire. Relocation assistance will be considered.

How you will make an impact:

The Tribal Liaison is responsible for: interfacing with Tribal Leaders and Indian Health Care Providers; building and maintaining strategic relations, alliances and coalitions; monitoring Amerigroup’s compliance with Washington State Medicaid contractual requirements related to Indian Health Care Providers and American Indian/Alaska Native Medicaid enrollees; developing and implementing strategic initiatives related to AI/AN health care; and health plan education on AI/AN cultural respect and sensitivity.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Relationship Development and Management—35%

  • Developing and Managing Amerigroup’s relationship with HCA Tribal Affairs Administration; and
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with Tribal Leaders and partner with Provider Experience to Indian Health Care Providers, which could include escalating issues internally and partnering to resolve problems with the providers.

Regulatory and State Contract Management—55%

  • Collaborating with Compliance to track contract compliance risks related to Indian Health Care Providers and AI/AN members/enrollees.
  • Working cross-departmentally to resolve contract compliance risks related to Indian Health Care Providers and AI/AN members/enrollees.
  • Attends Tribal Consultations as requested by individual Tribal units, at the request of a state agency/department, and per State contract requirements.
  • Leading development of responses to state audit reviews, when applicable.
  • Reviews and revises the AI/AN Cultural Respect and Sensitivity education program - per preference of the individual, leads and/or assists in the delivery of annual trainings for local and enterprise staff assigned to Washington.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director and Service Coordination staff to address the needs of American Indian/ Alaska Native members with complex issues.
  • Provides guidance to departments across the health plan on improving policies and procedures and contractually required programs, including, but not limited to, the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement program, and clinical care transitions and care coordination efforts related to our AI/AN members/enrollees.

Other Duties as Assigned—10%

  • Other requirements and tasks may be necessary, especially within state contract requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, Political Science or related field.
  • 5 years' experience in an administrative, Tribal, leadership, social work, or community service role, to include Tribal 638 or Indian Health facilities/community health services; or combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.​

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, or relevant field, preferred.
  • Provider relations experience, preferred.
