This position could primarily be remote, but proximity to an Elevance Health major office (pulse point) is a plus.  Elevance Health supports a hybrid workplace model with pulse point sites used for collaboration, community, and connection.

The Actuarial Analyst II is responsible for completing projects and performing complex actuarial studies on the commercial trend analysis and forecasting team

How You Will Make an Impact

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: 

  •  Obtains, verifies, analyzes and models data including risk reporting and forecasting.

  • Calculates monthly claims liability reserves, develops merit rating factors and prepares Department of Insurance annual statement exhibits.

  • Support and develop into a state lead for the IFTPM (Integrated Financial Trend Projection Model) process.

  • Help develop detailed Plan targets by type of service, including both trend and cost/utilization metrics.

  • Update trend projections periodically, to support pricing trend development and the corporate business plan.

  • Perform monthly variance analysis (MVA), to compare developing experience vs. Plan targets.

Minimum Requirements:

 Requires a BA/BS degree and to have passed a minimum of three Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exams and a minimum of 1 year related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel is preferred.
