Business Change Internship - Summer 2023

A Business Change Intern will be responsible for working with management to identify and implement various projects, programs and plans that support achievement of the Indiana Medicaid Health Plan and enterprise goals.  

How you will make an impact:

  • Identifying potential issues, necessary project changes, and scope.

  • Identifying impacted parties, business partners, and resources required.

  • Leading efforts to identify best practices.

  • Developing and designing processes and systems that support business needs.

  • Designing methods for integrating function and process.

  • Conducting cost/benefit analyses.

  • Building support for business change throughout the business unit.

Functions OR examples of projects for this role: 

  • Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Contract Implementation and Readiness - Intern will work with health plan and shared services partners to gather, organize, and support the refinement of documents, for submission to the state for LTSS readiness.

  • Quality Department - Intern will work with the IN Medicaid Quality Department to assist in the development of strategies to drive increased Health Needs Screening completions and close gaps in care, assist in development of tracking tools, develop strategy guides that capture the "recipe" for each strategy and the impact, etc.

  • Member Retention and Transitioning – Intern will focus on the effectiveness of member retention strategies as members redetermine monthly post Public Health Emergency; members transitioning in and out of medically frail and pregnancy plans; and members transitioning in and out of the health plan, and members transitioning in and out of justice-facilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business/Health Care Management/Public Health/Health Care Administration or other related degree at an accredited college/university

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the summer internship program

  • Detail oriented, proficient with Excel and Power Point, inquisitive, analytical, exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills

  • Excellent Public Speaking and Presentation skills
