IT Graduate Internship- Summer 2023

The IT Graduate Level Intern will be responsible for aligning data solutions, analytic applications, reporting tools, and strategic technology solutions to business requirements by planning, initiating, and implementing data architecture work and database development.

Primary responsibilities include supporting:

  • Database Administration:

    • Builds, tests and supports database development

    • Determines Database requirements for projects.

    • Reviews SQL code and provides tuning suggestions. 

  • Data Architecture:

    • Works with business users, development teams and database administrators to help develop, implement and maintain databases. 

    • Applies data architecture principles, standards, guidelines and concepts. 

    • Upholds data quality standards and guidelines, data sharing/integration standards and guidelines, and modeling tool standards and practices.

  • Engineering:

    • Responsible for end to end application, system development and maintenance on single product or multiple smaller less complex technology platforms within an assigned client group, business unit or corporate department.

    • Works to develop knowledge of enterprise technology tools, resources, processes and systems.

    • Works to develop collaborative relationships with the internal or external stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements. 

    • Assists with documenting less complex business and technical requirements for coding on system components.

  • BI Developer:

    • Conducts preliminary business and IT review of manual processes and prepares groundwork for potential automation.

    • Assess, communicates and coordinates production release notifications to users. 

    • Assists in documenting limited business and technical requirements and coding of system components.

    • Assists with coding of system components and developing unit test plans. 

    • Assists with pilots for Business Intelligence tool upgrades, innovative tool evaluations, and configuration of metadata for Business Intelligence tools.

Functions OR examples of projects for this role: 

  • Producing an assessment of current data eco-system with recommendations and a roadmap for development

  • Assistance in migrating key data assets between databases and cloud solutions

  • Maintaining team database servers

  • Building and documenting processes

Mimimum Requirements:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field

  • This internship is from June 6th to August 12th and is 40 hours per week

  • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Powerpoint

  • Some experience in:

    • Database administration, data architecture, BI development, or engineering

    • Exposure to cloud solutions

    • SQL

    • General business and technical knowledge required

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

  • Possess strong intellectual curiosity and motivated to master analytical skills.

  • Must be a critical thinker capable of producing applied insights and problem-solving

  • Must be a self-starter and quick learner with the desire to learn new tools and techniques

  • Must have structured thinking to synthesize analytic findings (both verbally and written) into actionable strategic recommendations

  • Solves well defined analytical problems, as well as complex and ambiguous problems independently

  • Collaborates with other analytical team members effectively
