Enterprise DBA Executive Architect

The Application Performance Database Services (APDS) Architect role will provide overall direction, guidance, definition, and facilitation for the development of current and future architecture required to meet the organizations’ needs, goals, and strategic direction. Responsibilities include managing the strategic intake of projects and work, aligning IT Capabilities and Services to business needs, advocacy and support of current IT strategies, identification, and analysis of the business drivers to derive useful context, and analysis of the current IT ecosystem to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement. Architects interface across all departments, acting as visionaries to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects. They conceive strategies, solutions, build consensus, and sell/execute solutions. They are involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through requirements analysis, design, and implementation. Additional responsibilities may include establishing overall architectural viewpoints and oversight of organization standards and policies. Architects identify major system interfaces, business capability needs, and existing architecture weaknesses and opportunities for systems.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides the architectural leadership in shaping strategic technology projects, and implementation path which focus on both Business of IT and LOB-specific strategic technology projects.

  • Aligns architectural strategy with business requirements.

  • Manages APDS Demand Management and Work Intake Process.

  • Maintains APDS IT Services Inventory & Catalog.

  • Participates in the EA ecosystem-wide and domain’s architecture Governance process.

  • Participates in domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction.

  • Analyze and translate business, information, and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to outlines solutions that integrate across applications, systems and platforms to achieve business objectives.

  • Reviews exceptions and makes recommendations to architectural standards at a domain/program level.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 8 years of experience in information technologies with 6 years of experience in architecture/design in relevant technology disciplines; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of architecture experience implementing enterprise scale applications and/or infrastructure environments. Architectural expertise in the inception and design of enterprise-wide solutions considering an understanding of, and impact on, the enterprise’s systems, applications, data, and technical architectures,

  • Experience with large-scale IT operations strongly preferred.

  • Deep architecture experiences strongly preferred.

  • Experience driving process change management preferred.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.

  • Able to create executive level materials that explain the technical to a non-technical audience.

  • Strong knowledge of technology constraints (e.g., born from acquisition, divestitures, mergers) and innovative design mindset to provide a broader solution.

  • 2+ years of experience architecting solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Azure.

  • 2+ Years of deep hands-on experience with public cloud services – AWS and/or Azure.

  • Experienced in enterprise cloud migration and deploying applications and databases to public cloud and/or hybrid computing environments (Public, Co-lo, Private, internal DC etc.).

  • Comprehensive experience in Architecture, design, configuration and implementation of Data(base) technologies, both structured (SQL) and non-structured (No-SQL), across On-premise and cloud (Aws/ Azure) technologies.

  • Experienced in data modeling tools and techniques.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise identity services such as IAM, SSO, OpenID, SAML 2.0, Oauth, 2FA, AD, LDAP, etc., for cloud environments and workloads.

  • Good understanding of risks, compliance, and security operations management for cloud environments.

  • Experience with broad set of security technologies and processes (secure software development (Application Security), database security, data protection, cryptography, key management, identity, and access management (IAM), network security) within SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud environments.

  • Experience in implementing AWS/ Azure security controls.

  • Expertise in continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and practices.

  • 2+ years’ experience in ‘Infrastructure as a Code’, automation/ configuration management toolsets and best practices using Terraform, AWS Cloud-formation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or equivalent.

  • Experience in data center operations, including monitoring, alerting and notifications.

  • Solid understanding of IT operations management for cloud, including resource tagging and common ITSM processes such as Request, change, Incident, Problem etc.

  • Solid software architecture understanding.

  • AWS/ Azure Cloud Certification.

  • 2+ years' experience in server side application development (Java, PHP, C# etc.).

  • 2+ years’ experience in client-side development (Javascript, jscript, HTML etc.).

  • 2+ years of experience in API’s development.

  • Integration experience using RESTful services with other data providers, and knowledge of JSON or XML.

  • Self-starter, working both independently and as a team member.

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate with customers, vendors, and partners across all levels of the organization.
