Strategic Vendor Director

Hybrid - 4-10 times in office/month

The Strategic Vendor Director establishes program governance to assure response to issue escalation and resolution; ensures the program meets its stated objectives. Middle management/lead role.

How you can make an impact:

  • Provides subject matter expertise in response to strategic business issues; researches applicable subject matter practices; and remains aware of industry trends.
  • Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Develops detailed knowledge of corporate business plans and the ability to utilize them in strategic decisions.
  • Develops communication documents and training criteria related to external client-facing program success measures.
  • Develops documentation to support meeting presentations and the tracking and reporting of the program's success.
  • Facilitates the planning and implementation of the transition of new work items assigned to the vendor in support of strategic goals and budget.
  • Has key accountability and controls for all vendor implementation activities.
  • Works directly with business representatives to assure that all aspects of implementation run smoothly.
  • The ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS degree in business or a related field; a minimum of 7 years of process improvement, inventory management, contract management, vendor management, project management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, and Capabilities:

Operations Experience

  • MBA (or LLM) preferred.
  • 10+ years of process improvement, inventory management, contract management, vendor management, and/or project management experience preferred.
  • Possesses demonstrated experience working with Sourcing and Contract Management, Vendor Management, and contract negotiation in categories including; Business Process Outsourcing, Applications Development, and Maintenance, Software, or Software as a Service.
  • Comfortable in speaking with and negotiating directly with vendor sales teams on behalf of Elevance Health/Legato (where applicable).
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring skills preferred.
  • Experience developing high-level project/program presentations to stakeholder leadership.

Or IT Experience

  • Experience with technologies in one or more of the following categories: Applications Development and Maintenance (ADM), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Software, or Software as a Service (SaaS) Services.
  • 10+ years of experience with drafting, evaluating, negotiating, and/or coordinating the execution of enterprise agreements for identified towers.
  • Fundamental understanding of technology licensing models and contractual terms.
  • Working knowledge of licensing from various software vendors.
  • Strong working knowledge of the software life cycle and ability to map its stages to the relevant license renewal processes in the company.
  • Experience with/exposure to software asset management, license tracking, license usage audit, and true-up.
  • Strong experience in defining software/SaaS performance metrics.
  • Experience with leading complex conversations around Cloud technology migration/adoption, educating internal and external stakeholders about Cloud computing, and coordinating/executing Cloud-based engagements.
  • Strong experience with Sales, Business Development, Proposal Development, Financial Modeling, or Technology Partner Management of Data Center or Cloud solutions.

  • Experience with: (i) working in, OR (ii) working with, the purchasing/licensing/contracting department of organizations that provide services for ADM, BPO services, Software, and SaaS vendors.

  • Experience with traditional analytic warehouse solutions including Oracle, SQL-Server, and “Big Data” technologies including Snowflake.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.

  • Experience with BPO vendors oversight activities such as call center, claims processing, language services, and provider services support.
