LOCATION: This is a remote position for the El Paso, Lubbock, and West Rural service areas. Residency in one of these areas is required.

HOURS: General business hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend hours may be required based upon applicable community events.

TRAVEL: The associate will represent Amerigroup at community events. As such, some travel within the region is required.


The Ombudsman Liaison is responsible for coordinating services with local community organizations and working with local advocacy organizations to assure that the Foster Care Adoption Assistance Program (FCAAP) and Department of Juvenile Justice Program (DJJP) members have access to Covered Services and non-covered services. It is additionally responsible for interacting with Department of Community Health (DCH) equivalent ombudsman staff and submitting reports to DCH.


Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and executes statewide ombudsman strategy for the Foster Care Adoption Assistance Program (FCAAP) and Department of Juvenile Justice Program (DJJP) through strategic planning, collaborations, and strategic alliances. Improves understanding of local advocacy organizations, philosophies, stakeholders, legislators and providers that interact with or influence members and policy.

  • Serves as an informal information resource, communication channel, complaint handler, facilitator, consultant, and practitioner for dispute resolution.

  • Seeks fair/equitable solutions to member/provider problems.

  • Recommends dispute resolution processes to address and manage conflicts; recommends policy and procedural changes.

  • Brings issues to health plan executive leadership to address care delivery improvement efforts and promote effective relationships/communication between members and providers.

  • Initiates, directs, and facilitates activities within the FCAAP/DJJP Steering.

  • Builds and develops partnerships that are in concert with the company's overall strategy to improve our collaboration within the Foster Care (FC), Adoption Assistance (AA) and Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) communities.


Required Qualifications

  • Requires a BA/BS degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Proven track record of developing programs and services for Children at risk or in Foster Care.


Preferred Qualifications

  • LTSS experience, including auditing and compliance, is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with community outreach is preferred.

  • Public speaking skills are extremely helpful.
