Position summary

The Staff Vice President Enterprise Culture (Staff VP) is a highly visible and accountable position, serving as a key member of the organization’s leadership.  This leader has accountability to drive the vision, strategy, development and execution of our cultural transformation while integrating the desired culture into the organization’s core practices to support the success of business priorities.

The Staff VP will work collaboratively to establish desired outcomes and define the critical success criteria, review current programs and processes for improvement and outline an implementation and transition plan.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience leading through others (and from the front) in heavily matrixed organizations with a diverse collection of internal stakeholders. 

In addition, this leader will engage strategically with business partners, gaining a better understanding of the cultural barriers at Elevance Health, and will propose and implement solutions that will help achieve results.

Position outcomes

  • Diagnose the most critical behavioral barriers to achieving our strategy, applicable to all associates

  • Identify effective behaviors to overcome these barriers at the organizational level, aligned to our strategy

  • Define what each organizational behavior looks like in action at the individual associate level

Position responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of culture strategic plan in alignment with the Culture Steering Team; make key decisions, socialize with senior leadership, HR and other internal stakeholders

  • Quantify the culture model into measurable ratings and outline implementation and transition plan

  • Support leaders to navigate and lead through change, including partnering with business leaders for successful M&A culture assessment, due diligence, and integration

  • Create and deploy culture toolkits, workshops, content and other strategies that advance enterprise strategic culture priorities

  • Lead the Culture Council and grow the culture champion network; implement strategy to identify and invest in culture promoters as active supporters of our culture and change efforts

  • Partner internally to enable the delivery of diverse content/engagement opportunities for associates (such as engagement opportunities and digital assets) and implement communication plans/campaigns that drive engagement and change aligned with culture priorities.

  • Partner with HR by providing input to the HR strategic plan, identifying integration points with the culture strategy and working closely with HR stakeholders to build and execute strategic roadmap with particular focus on:

    • The talent life cycle;

    • Performance management strategy; and

    • Associate value proposition and talent brand

  • Partner with internal and external communications teams to embed strategy across channels. (Pulse, social media strategy and presence, careers section of the website, etc.)

Position requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 10 years of increasingly responsible leadership experience

  • Demonstrated success leading change and culture transformation
