The Staff VP of Provider Economics will collaborate closely with Vice Presidents and Regional Vice Presidents at National, Regional, and Market levels - driving strategy and analytics to improve Elevance Health’s overall competitive positioning, affordability goals, and network performance.

This position will oversee the West Region, encompassing the CA, CO, and NV markets while overseeing Elevance Health’s $100+ billion unit price budget, including forecast management, reimbursement development, provider contract modeling, and performance reporting.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for advising and reporting on unit price changes to support Elevance’s affordability goals and local market performance management.

  • Advise and execute on preferred reimbursement strategies, strategic contracting initiatives, network development, and any other opportunities around provider reimbursement

  • Oversee national, regional, and/or local market-level teams to provide day-to-day analytics and consultative strategy for all fee-for-service facility and professional contracting negotiations

  • Oversee day-to-day financial modeling of hospital, professional and ancillary contracts. Inclusive of both traditional fee-for-service and risk-based methodologies including capitated delegated models

  • Partner with VPs, SVPs, and Plan Presidents during major hospital and professional negotiations, representing Elevance Health’s financial position “at the table” and advising strategy on reimbursement, contract terms, and termination

  • Lead ideation and valuation of healthcare cost reduction strategies within the Health Economics space

  • Design, develop and implement processes and/or solutions that enable financial modeling, network optimization, and performance monitoring.

  • Represents the Vice President of Health Economics at symposiums and key meetings with regulators, provider groups, customers, and internal business areas

  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports

Requires a BA/BS degree in Economics, Math, Statistics, Data Science or related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managed care or integrated health services with an understanding of reimbursement methods; excellent leadership skills, requires minimum 8 years of direct management experience of healthcare analytics teams, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • MBA, JD, MHA strongly preferred

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $168,000 to $302,400.

Locations:  California; Colorado; and Nevada
