Snowflake - Database Admin Advisor

The Snowflake Data Base Administrator Advisor has achieved mastery of all Database Administration best practices, standards, policies, methods tools and procedures. Focus is on the proficient delivery of Database Administration services while leading the Database Administration team's use of tools, techniques and processes.
How you will make an impact:
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Database design based on application requirements and Snowflake principles
-
Translates detailed design into physical database structures
-
Facilitate database performance testing in lower levels to ensure efficiency in production

Establishes and monitors corporate and industry database standards, including disaster recovery, security and data retention

Performs Project Management Tasks including estimating, status reporting and scope management

Create and maintain runbooks and standards documents

Create and manage Snowflake warehouses, including size/cost estimates and credit management.

Coaches, mentors and provides guidance for less experienced Database Administrators.

Compliance with Carelon’s strict security policy to protect PHI/PII
Minimum requirements:
-
Requires BA/BS in Computer Science or Information Systems; 7 or more years of database administration experience.
-
Requires detailed technical design knowledge, knowledge of Snowflake database administration techniques and database administration tools. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required.

Must have proven leadership capabilities to aid in setting future technical direction, test/implement/document new features, design and implement new policies/procedures, manage multiple projects in parallel, and guide/mentor teammates.

7 or more years of Database Administration experience with a minimum of 2 years of Snowflake admin experience.

Expert level experience writing, troubleshooting, and optimizing Snowflake SQL

Experience and demonstrated proficiency with Snowflake query logging, system logging, and other system management tools
Preferred qualifications:
-
Snowflake certification
-
Expert level experience and demonstrated proficiency utilizing and optimizing Snowflake load/unload utilities

Experience and demonstrated proficiency writing stored procedures and automation

Understanding of security and regulations that related to database administration in a healthcare environment (i.e. HIPAA, SOX, PII protection)

Knowledge and experience with multiple data modeling techniques and software delivery lifecycle and methodology

Strong understanding of Data Analytics architecture components, including cloud data warehouses, metadata driven processes, devops, data as an asset, etc
