Responsible for delivery of end to end application, system development and maintenance on complex multi technology platforms within assigned client group, business unit or corporate department and utilizing various customer technology platforms.
How you will make an impact -
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Maintains active relationships with customers to determine business requirements and leads requirements gathering meetings.
• Owns the change request process and may coordinate with other teams as necessary.
• Provides technical advice and weighs in on technical decisions that impact cross functional teams.
• Researches and may propose new technologies.
• Develops and owns list of final enhancements.
• Develops and defines application scope and objectives and prepares technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written.
• Performs technical design reviews and code reviews.
• May own technical testing to ensures unit test is completed and meets the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan.
• Assesses current status and supports data information planning.
• Coordinates on-call support and ensures effective monitoring of system.
• Maintains technical development environment.
• Mentors others and may lead multiple or small to medium sized projects.
• Will begin to set direction at the project/service level and influences decision-making.
• Provides technical guidance, and mentoring.
• Understands the tradeoffs between technical, analytical and product needs of the technical solutions.
• Identifies and propose strategies around technical problems affecting team, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions.
• Facilitates group sessions to elicit complex information on requirements clarification, design sessions, code reviews and troubleshooting issues.
• Supports vendor evaluation.
Minimum Requirements
Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years related experience; multi dimensional platform experience; expert level experience with business and technical applications, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Multi database and/or multi language strongly preferred. Experience mentoring others, leading multiple small projects and providing troubleshooting support is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
The Operations Systems Support (OSS) Team at Elevance Health is in search of an Engineer Senior to join its team. The OSS Team is part of the Government Business Division’s (GBD) IT Operations organization. The OSS Team is responsible for the maintenance and support of a portion of the GBD infrastructure.
Additionally, the OSS Team is presently responsible for driving the successful migration of its on-premises environment to the cloud. The successful candidate will join a great team of IT professionals in the continued support of the current environment, as well as the exciting cloud migration work. The traditional role of the Engineer Senior in this environment is that of a Microsoft Systems Engineer, which includes Windows Administration. Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) is not required, but a plus. CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications are a plus. PowerShell and Python (or similar) scripting/programming experience/skills are a plus.
The new Engineer Senior will be an integral part of the cloud migration activities and will be leaned on heavily for his/her experience, so cloud migration experience is a must. Cloud destinations may include both AWS and Azure; AWS experience is required, and Azure experience is a definite plus. Candidate must be well-versed in the core AWS services – i.e., EC2, Systems Manager, IAM, S3, load balancers, storage, databases, etc. - as well as best practices regarding scalability and security. He/she will be the cloud subject matter expert on the team. For telemetry/monitoring, Splunk, Datadog and CloudWatch are a plus.
The ideal candidate should have operational experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS), use of Terraform (Terraform Enterprise preferred) or CloudFormation, HashiCorp Vault, scripting in Ansible Tower, and the Agile framework. Personnel performing an Operational Support role in these environments and using these applications and tools are preferred. Familiarity with CI/CD Automation best practices, containerization, and ITIL Incident Management Lifecycle are also a plus.
Lastly, the successful candidate will possess an open mind and an eagerness to not only learn from his/her new environment, but also to be a mentor. The OSS Team is a group of highly intelligent and seasoned IT professionals with years of industry and Elevance Health experience. This team constantly pushes itself to be the best, and the collaboration within the team is second to none. Expectations of the new Engineer Senior will be high. He/she will need to immediately produce, especially on the cloud migration effort, where the required experience and skills are most needed.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $104,800 to $157,200
