Group Underwriting Consultant Sr.

This position operates on a Flex 1 schedule reporting 0-3 times a month to their local PulsePoint.

Responsible for determining acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases. Position is the most senior technical underwriting expert.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Calculates renewal rates for complex cases based on thorough analysis of the group's experience, industry, location, size, and demographic nature.
Recommends appropriate administrative costs and projected claims to achieve corporate financial objectives
Coordinates with other departments to ensure the accuracy and consistency of account reporting and pricing inputs.
Proposes rates and terms for group prospects, utilizing a combination of other carrier experience, demographic data and benchmark rates.
Performs post-sale reviews.
Participates in multi-functional teams as underwriting representative.
Communicates with sales, administration and other departments to assess the rating and administrative impact of benefit and plan changes and clinical initiatives.
Updates and monitors departmental processes and procedures in compliance with system, regulatory and business requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a BA/BS in a related field; Minimum 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Qualifications

An analytical background is highly preferred.
Exceptional Excel skills with high attention to detail is strongly preferred.
Technical proficiency, ability to lead virtual meetings and present pricing recommendations to senior leadership is highly preferred.
Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple deadlines is highly preferred.
Prior actuarial experience/exams highly preferred.
CPCU, CLU, LOMA, HIAA, PAHM or other insurance related courses are a plus.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $89,600 to $161,280.
