*Will consider highly qualified candidates from additional locations. This position will take part in Elevance Health's hybrid work model which includes remote work and 4-10 days in office per month.

The DEI Strategic Program Director is responsible for developing, leading, and managing comprehensive short-, mid- and long-term talent lifecycle and HR strategies.

How You Will Make an Impact

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Partners with the DEI Team, senior leadership, and stakeholders across the enterprise and human resources leadership in developing business strategies, programs, and policies aimed at improving recruitment, development, succession, and retention of a diverse workforce including people with disabilities, veterans, and the LGBTQIA+ community. 

  • Serves as a strategic consultant and subject matter expert on  diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Builds and operationalizes end-to-end DEI-focused talent lifecycle and HR processes across the enterprise. 

  • Builds and leads learning strategies to increase the DEI competency, engagement and accountability of all associates.  

  • Leads cross-functional project teams with DEI-related initiatives and projects. 

  • Maintains a proactive view to support the evolving DEI needs of the business, identifies new talent development opportunities to grow and keep talent, and proactively identifies solutions, programs, and processes to address the need. 

  • Completes external benchmarking and utilizes metrics and scorecards to drive DEI strategy and ROI. Establishes and maintains key metrics to track the effectiveness of processes and programs. 

  • Develops project plans and tracks milestones required to achieve both short and long-term DEI priorities within talent lifecycle and HR processes and shares updates against milestones with DEI Project Coordinator. 

  • Leads the recommendation and implementation of technology enhancements to effectively embed and integrate DEI into talent lifecycle and HR processes and systems.

  • Consults with HR Business Partners and Centers of Expertise on end-to-end solutions with minimal guidance. 

  • Serves on internal and external advisory boards representing the company and represents the company externally at events.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of progressive business experience, including 6 years of experience developing, leading, and executing large-scale, complex and highly visible initiatives with demonstrated results; experience managing diversity or diversity-related initiatives that demonstrated strategic leadership combined with tactical execution; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences

  • Experience managing diversity, diversity-related, and/or talent initiatives combined with tactical execution preferred. 

  • Experience with talent lifecycle systems, such as career development, talent mobility pipelines, performance management, leadership models, assessments, coaching, succession, and/or leadership development initiatives strongly preferred. 

  • Experience leading DEI learning strategies.

  • Experience interacting with various levels of leadership and working in a highly matrixed environment including experience supporting and executing large-scale, complex, and highly visible initiatives with demonstrated results. 

  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills are required and skills in interpreting data/ summarizing key insights are strongly preferred. 

  • Advanced degree.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $118,800-$213,840.
