Innovation Director – Human-Centered Design 

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Ideal candidates will live within 50 miles of one of our PulsePoint locations.


As the Innovation Director , you must be a human-centered design thinker. At Elevance Health Innovation, you will engage at a strategic level but will also have exposure to the broad range of the Innovation portfolio and the opportunity to make significant contributions to impactful work. You will be working alongside our Innovation Leaders to deliver thoughtful, well-executed, and effective creative materials and design thinking artifacts.

You must be passionate about the human-centered design process. We seek someone who is empathic, curious, highly collaborative, and open to exploring innovative ideas that go beyond the everyday.

How you will make an impact:


•    You will use your knowledge of human-centered design methodology and strong leadership through project work leveraging best practices and tools.
•    A mix of left and right brain, bringing both the rational business acumen that sells in possibilities, and the creative brand storytelling that convinces people to buy.
•    Uncovering, exploring, and finding the story in the data ensures innovation’s strategic recommendations are informed opinions based on evidence.
•    Building customer profiles, mapping customer journeys, and identifying pain points where an omnichannel experience can be re-imagined.
•    Designing and leading workshops with internal teams and/or clients; facilitating conversations, championing unexpected insights to inspire creative solutions.
•    Developing focused and insightful briefs and delivering briefings that inspire bold experience solutions.
•    Contribute to translating business issues into research design and lead screener and discussion guide development, recruitment monitoring, quality assurance, research collection, and reporting. 
•    Contribute to translating research findings into actionable insights and leverage insights together with other sources, to inform personas, journeys, need states, and innovative concepts.
•    Deliver research insights across phases of the operating model within the Agile working model.
•    Contribute to the development and tracking of KPIs for key initiatives in collaboration with our implementation team. 
•    Stay up to date on emerging research methods and providers which drive improvements in the insight-generation process. 
•    Leverage project and program management skills to execute and manage initiatives across the business. 
•    Support immersion workshops with cross-functional colleagues to ensure the voice of the design target is brought to life.

Minimum Requirements:


Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field of study and a minimum of 15 years of experience in information technology, healthcare, consulting, and/or consumer technologies; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:


•    8-10 years of design thinking experience. You have a breadth of knowledge in delivering work using a human-centered design process.
•    Storytelling. You can bring to life our design target and solutions using great storytelling that brings others along with you.
•    Comfortable with ambiguity. self-starter with a bias towards action. Can adjust to shifting priorities.
•    Great communication skills. You present design decisions and processes clearly and confidently, regardless of audience.
•    You believe in human-centered design. Growing understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices.
•    Bring solutions to life. Ability to visualize and prototype (in collaboration with a design team) intended solutions at various levels of fidelity to use as stimuli in research
•    Be Agile. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment, while also leading iterative process improvement efforts, across multiple initiatives.
•    A collaborative approach. You’re a great partner to your cross-functional teammates.
•    A growth mindset. You’re curious and receptive to feedback and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
•    A sense of humor. We spend a lot of time together—sharing gifs and laughing over lunch keeps us energized and inspired throughout the day.
•    Experience designing and building solutions for HealthCare is a plus.
•    Design skills are a plus


For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location, the salary* range for this specific position is $142,560 to $256,608.
