Test Automation Engineer Advisor

The Test Automation Engineer Advisor is responsible for development and oversight of enterprise test automation strategies and functions ensuring the highest quality delivery of systems including test strategy framework, technical test leadership, standardized test architecture, and associated methodologies and process architecture, test planning for strategic/complex initiatives, test automation strategy, end to end test strategy, and test environment strategy requirements. By adopting test data driven techniques the Test Automation Engineer Advisor will write scripts and create automation test suites supporting non-production environments for repeated tests. By using different automation tools, the role will design, test, and deploy effective test automation solutions with the goal of automating as much of the testing effort as possible with a minimum set of code.

How you will make an impact:

  • Plays a leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of automation components.

  • Coordinates and identifies test cases to automate.

  • Mentors staff in testing automation processes.

  • Provides consultation to projects and application support groups regarding automation design, development, and execution.

  • Develops linkage from test cases to test automation.

  • Understands organizational impacts and trade-offs of automation processes.

  • Plays a leadership role in managing resources from alternate development centers.

  • Recommends and implement framework enhancements to accommodate the scripting needs.

  • Writes, designs, and executes automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically.

  • Maximizes test coverage for the most critical features of the system.

  • Determines the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios.

  • Writes documentation for automated processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases.

  • Builds test automation frameworks.

  • Logs and document bugs in the tracking system.

  • Sets up continuous integration.

  • Conducts exploratory testing when required to understand how functionality manifests itself to the customer.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years of testing automation experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Programming skills to write computer code and scripts in common
    computer languages, such as Java, Javascript, Python strongly preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills to examine bug reports, prioritize necessary tests and streamline application functions through automated testing processes strongly preferred.

  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with the engineering team and create testing plans and written reports showing errors preferred.

  • Experience testing web and CRM applications to find ways to improve them and isolate problems preferred.

  • Automation testing tools experience with Selenium, Node.js preferred.

  • Tableau reports automation including dashboards and database platform experience preferred.

  • API testing tools experience and strong coding skills to create tests using REST Assured, RestSharp, jMeter, etc. preferred.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, Bit bucket, Github preferred.

  • Experience with defect tracking and task creation tools such as JIRA preferred.

  • 5 years automation experience preferred.

  • Experience in healthcare and specifically with claims processing preferred.

  • Experience in Pega and workflow management preferred.

  • Work experience with offshore/nearshore/onshore model preferred.

  • Experience with Agile methodology preferred.

  • Quality certification such as CMQ, CQA, CQPA, CQT, CSQE, or CSSBB preferred.
