Genetic Counselor Solution Sr.

The Genetic Counselor Solutions Sr. is responsible for providing telehealth genetic counseling services to members for genetic testing. Involved in building, constructing, and writing clinical policy. Serves as a key contact for the government lines of business. Ensures lab tests accurately reflect appropriate test codes.

How you will make an impact:

  • Provides telehealth genetic counseling services for providers and members for complex genetic testing.

  • Researches, authors, and maintains clinical guidelines.

  • Advises internal and external clients on program related genetic testing coverage.

  • Advises government teams regarding application of CMS medical policies and guidelines.

  • Works with coding team to develop test menu configuration.

  • Works with Solution directors to perform customer audits for utilization and areas requiring additional investigation.

  • Develops thought leadership for enterprise publications.

  • Supports business activities such as test menu maintenance from laboratory submissions and updates client CPT code sets.

  • Maintains test menus for online portal.

  • Reviews quarterly AMA CPT code releases to determine applicability to clinical guidelines.

  • Answers client and provider questions.

  • Provides training and answers questions for operations teams related to clinical content.

  • Provides clinical support for client implementations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires MA/MS and a minimum of 5 years of clinical genetic counseling experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Experience in clinical guideline development and/or authoring of publications is also required.

  • Active, unrestricted genetic counselor license is required in applicable states.

  • ABGC (American Board of Genetic Counseling) board certification required.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • MA/MS or PhD in Human Genetics, Molecular Biology or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Clinical genetic counseling experience for diverse indications preferred.

  • Leadership experience in genetics and/or professional societies preferred.

  • Knowledge of CPT coding and test menu interpretation of results preferred.

  •  Experience related to clinical program design preferred.

  • Experience working with physicians from multiple medical specialties preferred.

  • Experience in medical review and/or utilization management preferred.

  • Experience with oncology preferred.
