BH Care Manager I, UM/Crisis Line - North Carolina
*Candidate must live AND be licensed in the state of North Carolina.
Location: This position is primarily a Virtual/Remote role. Ideal candidates Must live within 50 miles of either the Durham or Winston-Salem, North Carolina Elevance Health Corporate office(s).
Work Shift: Monday through Friday, 5 pm to 8 am working 10 hours shifts (EST) and rotating weekend shifts which includes working two weekends a month. Weekend coverage would be 10 or 12 hour shifts between the hours of 7 am to 7:30 pm or 7:30 am to 8 pm (EST) and Rotating Holiday coverage.
The BH Care Manager I, UM/Crisis Line is responsible for managing psychiatric and substance abuse health benefits through telephonic or written review and providing clinical crisis support of the 24/7/365 Behavioral Health Crisis Line.
How you will make an impact:
Uses appropriate screening criteria knowledge and clinical judgment to assess member needs to ensure access to medically necessary quality behavioral healthcare in a cost-effective setting in accordance with UM Clinical Guidelines and contract.
Refers cases to Peer Reviewers as appropriate.
Performs psychiatric and substance abuse disorder assessment, coordination implementation, case planning, monitoring and evaluating to promote quality member outcomes to optimize member health benefits and to promote effective use of health benefits and community resources.
Provides clinical crisis support to members who utilize the 24/7/365 Behavioral Health Crisis Line.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires MA/MS in social work, counseling or a related behavioral health field or a degree in nursing, and minimum of 3 years of experience with facility-based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
Current, active, unrestricted license, such as either a LCMHC, LCSW, RN (must have experience in behavioral health) LMFT or Clinical Psychologist to practice as a health professional within the scope of licensure in North Carolina.
Licensure is a requirement for this position.
Previous experience in case management/utilization management with a broad range of experience with complex psychiatric/substance abuse cases preferred.
Previous experience with crisis support for individuals impacted by a mental health or substance abuse related crisis
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Previous utilization management experience highly desired.
Experience with taking crisis line calls strongly preferred.
Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Services (BCBA).
