Business Strategy Planning Director (Chief of Staff)
Location: Alternate locations may be considered. This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Must live within 50 miles/1 hour commute of an Elevance Health location.

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our VP of Provider Partnerships, acting as a strategic consultant and connector. You’ll drive high-impact initiatives and foster a culture of performance excellence, directly representing the VP in key engagements. Your expertise will guide us in defining strategies and transforming them into actionable plans that align with our enterprise objectives.
How you will make an impact:
- Understands all aspects of the business and partners with executive leadership to define strategy and successful criteria for the future.
- Translates strategy into defined tactics, programs/projects priorities, and timelines and ensures alignment and attainment of enterprises strategic plans to turn strategy into reality.
- Documents strategic priorities such as external environment and reports on customer insight research initiatives. Develops, tracks, and reports key performance indicators for strategic initiatives.
- Builds and leverages relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems. Represent the VP in key internal and external meetings when necessary.
- Manage and prioritize the VP’s agenda, ensuring focus on high-impact areas.
- Plan and coordinate leadership meetings, ensuring meaningful discussions and outcomes.
- Proposes opportunities to improve results based on continuous needs assessment.
- Responsible for the development implementation and monitoring of line of business planning and project activities.
- Supports leadership in developing talent, mentoring team members, and fostering engagement.
- Travels to worksite and other locations as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience including prior leadership experience and 3 to 5 year strategic planning; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong project management expertise with the ability to execute complex initiatives.
- Excellent communication and executive presence; ability to influence and engage senior leaders.
- High level of adaptability, agility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience fostering strong team culture and driving organizational alignment.
- Preference for candidates with experience working on both the provider and health plan sides of the business, demonstrating a deep understanding of payer-provider dynamics, health plan and provider operations.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $146,608 to $229,908.
