Carelon Client Development Director - Specialty Care Solutions Medical Benefit Management

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Carelon Client Development Director serves as the market level lead for Specialty Care Solutions Medical Benefit Management solutions, responsible for owning client relationships, driving growth, and ensuring market-level execution in partnership with Business Units (BUs), Medical Expense Management, and a centralized Carelon Health Customer Experience lead. This role combines strategic client development with operational accountability, ensuring Carelon delivers measurable cost-of-care and customer experience outcomes across assigned markets.

How you will make an impact:

  • Develops strategies and executes plans to identify, target, and achieve goals in growth, profitability, retention, and strategic value

  • Networks and prospects for new opportunities to expand services to clients.

  • Sells the Carelon value proposition to assigned groups.

  • Provides consultative subject matter expert information on the suite of products offered by Carelon.

  • Designs and implements standard and customized bundles of Carelon services to seize unique cost-of-care and quality improvement opportunities for client groups.

  • Ensures client account implementation delivers the expected value, timeliness, and satisfaction with Carelon services.

  • Builds effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Understands the issues specific to the client and applies knowledge, insight and experience into strategic recommendations.

  • Understands the business processes that the system supports.

  • May develop product and sales support messaging and materials, and provide input into the design of an account planning and renewal strategy.  

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS in health care related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience in account management, sales and/or operations in the health care industry; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:

  • MBA preferred.

  • A successful track record of selling specialty care/benefit management services and technology for leading healthcare companies to target customers is strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, decision-making, problem-solving skills, and adaptability highly preferred.

  • Innovative thinker with a proven ability to reimagine processes and deliver impactful automation solutions preferred.

  • Experience interacting confidently with executive-level stakeholders, as a subject matter expert and comfortable with influencing decision-making preferred.

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to negotiate expectations between multiple parties strongly preferred. 

  • Proficient of Microsoft Office products Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word strongly preferred.
