Compliance Director

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered.

The Compliance Director is responsible for directing foundational and strategic compliance responsibilities that support Carelon Health and its external clients with consistent excellence. This role partners across the organization to ensure compliance programs advance Carelon Health’s commitment to improving whole-person care through innovation and collaboration.

The Compliance Director must demonstrate strong relationship-building, agility, and collaboration skills to effectively engage diverse business leaders and stakeholders in identifying, managing, and mitigating compliance risks.

 

How you will make an impact:

Primary duties at an expert skill level and with advanced complexity and enterprise scope may include, but are not limited to:

  • Directs complex projects, initiatives, regulatory audits or exams, internal audits, accreditations, risk assessments, and on-site reviews, including audit planning, mock audits, training, evidence preparation, and audit readiness.
  • Leads compliance monitoring to identify process gaps, validate compliance levels, and oversee corrective and remediation plans through implementation and reporting.
  • Builds and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with key business partners, clients, and leaders to proactively identify risks, influence outcomes, and promote a culture of compliance, agility, and continuous improvement.
  • Partners across functions with innovation and adaptability to provide compliance guidance and support executive initiatives, regulatory responses, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Leads investigations, documents findings, and ensures appropriate resolution and follow-up.
  • Develops strategic and annual compliance plans and prepares reports or presentations for leadership and client partners.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS and minimum of 8 years health care, regulatory, ethics, compliance or privacy experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and effectively influence diverse stakeholders across all levels.
  • Demonstrated expertise in auditing, monitoring, and issues management, including developing and executing corrective actions.
  • Strong agility and innovative mindset to navigate evolving regulatory environments and operational priorities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with internal teams and external clients.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • MS/MBA/JD or professional certification (e.g., CHC, CCEP, CIA) preferred.
  • Travel to worksite and other locations as necessary.
