Director & Actuary I

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week at our Denver office, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace.

The Director & Actuary I is responsible for directing and providing leadership for actuarial projects.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Guides staff in the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
  • Assists Actuarial department head in developing the company's actuarial policies and procedures.
  • Directs and provides leadership in actuarial functions, which may include: the design, pricing, and implementation of assigned products; estimation of reserves and financial reporting, interpretation and projection; analysis of trends and cost of care initiatives; and actuarial modeling and analytics.
  • Maintains the product line to comply with various state and federal regulations.
  • Conducts and analyzes experience studies, validates pricing assumptions and monitors the consistency of company practices and procedures.
  • Performs short and long-term financial forecasting and analysis.
  • Responsible for decisions determining priority of work assignments, appropriateness of actuarial and statistical analysis, determining actuarial soundness of products, reserve position, underwriting guidelines, etc.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field and minimum of 7 years of relate experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Requires ASA/MAAA.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Prior managerial, Valuation, and appointed actuary experience preferred.
  • Qualified to sign Actuarial Opinions.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $155,760 to $233,640
