Director, Patient Access

Location: Plano, TX. This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace.

The Director of Patient Access plays an integral role in ensuring that patients experience a seamless entry into the healthcare system. By overseeing the operations of patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and financial counseling, this position ensures that the administrative pathway for patients is as smooth and efficient as possible. The role involves strategic planning and coordination with various departments to improve patient satisfaction, access to care, and the overall patient experience. Through leadership and innovation, the Director of Patient Access contributes to the healthcare facility’s mission of delivering high-quality care by making the initial steps of the healthcare journey accessible and straightforward for patients.

How will you make an impact:

  • Provides guidance on the most complex issues.
  • Has full managerial/staffing responsibility.
  • Handles significant and regular internal and external contact with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Has significant budget accountability and manages special projects.
  • Oversees the intake and patient access operations from initial referral receipt through patient admission and re-verification procedures, ensuring efficient and effective communications and processes are maintained.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures that promote patient satisfaction and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinates with clinical and billing departments to facilitate seamless patient flow from admission through discharge.
  • Develops and monitor the department’s budget, including forecasting and allocating resources for staffing, technology, and other operational needs.
  • Leads, trains, and evaluates the patient access team to ensure high-quality customer service and adherence to best practices.
  • Analyzes patient access data to identify trends, resolve bottlenecks, and implement improvements in processes and technology.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of department personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires BA/BS and a minimum of 9 years of professional/leadership experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Healthcare experience with proficiency in the infusion business
  • Advanced knowledge of billing laws, regulations, and infusion industry best practices
  • Extensive experience building and leading intake/patient access infusion teams Business/functional transformation experience
  • Effectiveness in managing stakeholders
  • MA/MBA preferred.
