Engineer Lead

Location: Ideal candidates will be able to report to our Pulse Point location at 2015 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond, VA 23230

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Engineer Lead is responsible for full delivery of end-to-end system development and maintenance on medium Enterprise-wide technology platforms.

How you will make an impact: 

  • Maintain active relationships with customers to determine business requirements and lead requirements gathering meetings. Review designs with the business.
  • May implement process to reduce barriers and roadblocks in projects, services, and processes in order to operate more efficiently.
  • Develop and define application scope and objectives and supervise the preparation of technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written.
  • Design and evaluate systems architecture for PEGA applications in compliance with company guidelines and requirements.
  • Configure and maintain on-premises/cloud/container-based infrastructure for Pega application built on a diverse stack of tools/software.
  • Work on user authentication and authorization to the application using OIDC/SAML/SSO/LDAP as per application specific requirement.
  • Work on PEGA product upgrade activities across the workflow environments and define backup strategy for production releases of the applications.
  • Build lightweight, reusable, and efficient Docker images tailored as per application requirement.
  • Create custom YAML files to deploy Pods and other Services in Openshift container platform.
  • Analyze and configure Pod Replica Count, Resource Limits, Health-check probes, and Annotations for Routes and other services in applications hosted on container-based infrastructure.
  • Work on code level changes to achieve BLUE-GREEN deployment model with zero downtime to users during production releases.
  • Follow Agile methodology to update status in daily scrum meetings and track defects and progress in JIRA.
  • Transforming apps to be cloud native as part of on-premises application infrastructure migration to AWS cloud.
  • Develop Terraform scripts (IaC-Infrastructure as code) that can be used by multiple applications to deploy EC2, EBS, Security groups, and other AWS resources.
  • Configure items such as cookie invalidation, node quiescing, and crash recovery to utilize Pega High Availability capabilities.
  • Configure Pega BIX Jobs for extracting reporting DB data from application through Jenkins/ Bamboo pipeline.
  • Work closely with PEGA Systems GCS team to report bugs in the PRPC software.
  • Work alongside performance testing teams, to analyze test result and make configuration changes, scale infrastructure, or fine tune JVM arguments that would help enhance system overall performance.
  • Monitor dashboards from Splunk, AppDynarnics, Datadog, and other monitoring tools to identify areas of improvement in system performance and to take proactive measures to avoid production outages.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study.
  • Seven (7) years of any occupation with IT experience, or related.
  • Seven (7) years of required Information Technology (IT), or related experience must include: PEGA; Linux; WebSphere; SOAP UI; MS SQL Server; Oracle DB; and Jenkins.

Alternate Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study and five (5) years of experience. Must have skills listed above.
