Medical Investigations Analyst I
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.
The Medical Investigations Analyst I is responsible for performing retrospective review and evaluation of medical services by analyzing claims history, member application, and provider submitted health statement and/or clinical records to determine evidence of a pre-existing or undisclosed medical condition as defined in the member's EOC.
How you will make an impact:
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Generates letters to member to request information and relay the review determination.
- May request medical records from providers and contact members/providers via telephone for basic information needed for the review.
- Organizes documentation when referral to underwriting is necessary, applying appropriate underwriting and/or benefit administration guidelines.
- Maintains records of cases in progress and results of underwriting review.
- Facilitates adjustment of claims.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires an AS in Life Sciences or related health care field and a minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare related field and health care insurance; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
- Medical or insurance terminology knowledge preferred.
