Registered Dietitian Senior (RD) - Paragon Healthcare

Location: 3033 W President George Bush HWY STE 100, Plano TX 75075. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.

Shift: 8 Hour, Days, Hybrid onsite 1 day per week.

The Registered Dietitian Senior (RD) - Paragon Healthcare is responsible for assisting with the overall supervisory responsibilities for clinical dietitians and provides leadership in the clinical direction of the designated nutrition support program.

How you will make an impact:

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing processes, and fulfilling administrative duties as well as completing technical activities necessary to assure alignment to organizational goals.
  • Responsible for providing the highest quality nutrition program services within attainable resources while ensuring a cost-effective operation.
  • Act as subject matter expert leading the activities and training designated clinical dietitian staff.
  • Reviews nutritional information, makes recommendations, and provides final decision related to commercial and government payor qualification criteria for nutrition support therapy.
  • Assists with preparing necessary paperwork for billing which supports payor criteria.
  • Supports billing in any issues such as appeals, denials or audits for nutrition support patients.
  • Serves as the primary contact for clinical issues, concerns and/or questions for clinical dietitians.
  • Assist with development of nutrition support training and education materials for patients and staff.
  • Supports CNM with development of nutrition support policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Supports the pharmacy, sales, customer service and adjunct departments as a nutrition support clinical liaison.
  • Assists with inventory and product shortage management strategies and protocol development/implementation.
  • Performs in-depth nutrition assessments and follow up on all appropriate patients per policy and procedure while maintaining adherence to most up to date, evidence-based guidelines.
  • Communicate findings of in-depth nutrition assessment and follow-up to all appropriate disciplines.
  • Participates in the inter-disciplinary nutrition care planning and patient plan of care.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires BA/BS and minimum of 5 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and applicable state Licensed Dietitian required.
  • RD must successfully pass CNSC exam within 12 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • For Carelon Health and Paragon business units, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
  • For Paragon business units, requires a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential required.
  • Must successfully pass CNSC exam within 12 months of hire and maintain certification.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • CNSC preferred or complete the certification within the first year of employment.
  • Experience writing TPN, preferred.
  • Experience managing the TPN Formula, Day to day, Week to Week, Ect. preferred.
  • Experience taking charge and managing patient care as needed, preferred. 
  • Ability to take call 10-12% of weekends per year, highly preferred.
