Staff Vice President (VP) Engineering
Location
Successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of an Elevance office, and able to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office)
Summary
The Staff VP of Engineering plays a key role in overseeing and leading the IT teams that support the Federal Employee Program (FEP) for Elevance Health. This role involves leading the implementation of FEP initiatives and programs while ensuring continuous support for business operations. Additionally, responsibilities include team development, budget management, and delivering on FEP business commitments. Oversight extends to teams both in the US and internationally, ensuring consistent and effective management across all locations.

Position Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development
Provides leadership in motivating subordinates to accomplish application design and delivery goals and objectives.
Develops a strong team through training and effective organizational development practices.
Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct report.
Hires qualified staff for assigned areas or functions.
Oversees entire business unit or all aspects of a centralized function.
Strategy and Planning
Partners with business, with an AI first mindset, in developing a comprehensive FEP digital strategy to optimize our core business and leverage digital capabilities across all FEP business areas, especially improving operational & clinical services for external consumers (members, providers, etc.).
Develops short/long-term FEP IT objectives and continuously monitors outcomes to ensure these are met by staff.
Participates with other executives to establish strategic plans and objectives.
Resource and Fiscal Management
Obtains resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things accomplished.
Has fiscal responsibility for IT application budgets.
Develops and manages the annual operating budget within financial objectives and ensures that service and goals are met.
Monitors the portfolio budget, scope, schedule, and key performance indicators.
Process Improvement and Implementation
Optimizes performance by constantly working on redefining and updating existing processes for improvement, contributing to overall team and organization performance.
Implements the policies, practices, and procedures of the company and Information Technology organizations.
Coordinates project management across department & divisional line.
Relationship Management
Establishes relationships with business partners.
Decision Making
Makes final decisions at the business unit level and ensures operations' effective achievement of objectives.
Position Requirements
Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in leading IT Application teams or any combination of education and experience, which would provide the equivalent background required.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences
Prior experience Leading teams and application in a Healthcare sector, preferably at a healthcare payer.
Experience in claims payment systems, enrollment systems, Care Management, Utilization management and Customer service including member & provider servicing.
Possess competency in Payment Integrity and Revenue-Cycle Management.
Knowledgeable about HEDIS performance measures.
Possess experience managing multiple application technology stacks that include Mainframe, Pega and Cloud platforms.
Critical Thinking: Capability to evaluate information, make informed decisions, and apply logic and reasoning in monitoring complex issues specific to different projects / programs and lead teams by being decisive
Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying issues, analyzing root causes, making informed decisions, and implementing innovative solutions to dynamic and unforeseen challenges.
Communication and collaboration: Capability to address conflicts or disagreements constructively, facilitating resolution for productive outcomes in a diverse team.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $201,760 to $363,168
