IT Governance Specialist

Locations: IN-Indianapolis, MD-Baltimore, PA-Harrisburg, MA-Hingham, ME-Portland, NY-Syracuse, TX- Denison.

This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations. This position will take part in Elevance Health's hybrid work model which includes remote work and in-office collaboration. Depending on location and proximity to an NGS location will determine the hybrid schedule with the highest in-office commitment being 1-2 days in an office per week.

The IT Governance Specialist will be responsible for implementing and managing the organization's data governance strategy including the overall data management plan, along with supporting important organizational security and compliance requirements around managing and securing our organization's data. The IT Governance Specialist will build relationships and partner with data owners and stewards from all lines of business. They will be responsible for requirements gathering, system design, process mapping, solution assessment, collaborator communication, and continuous improvement of the NGS data governance framework.

How you will make an impact:

  • Metadata Management: Lead the development and implementation of metadata management strategies to improve data discoverability, quality, and usage.

  • Data Catalog: Develop and maintain an organized data catalog for easy access and management of data assets.

  • Data Access: Define and implement data access policies and procedures to ensure secure and compliant data usage.

  • Data Protection: Collaborate with data protection officers and IT security teams to establish and maintain data privacy standards and compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Technology Implementation: Drive the adoption and integration of data management technologies such as OvalEdge, Denodo, Informatica, and Snowflake.

  • Business Analysis: Conduct comprehensive business analysis to understand and detail the requirements of internal collaborators regarding data governance and management.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve data governance processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and data governance committees to ensure alignment of data initiatives with business goals.

  • Training and Support: Deliver training and support to users & stewards on data governance tools and methodologies.

  • Defines functional, usability, reliability, performance, and support requirements to increase data transparency and to promote better use of data assets

  • Demonstrable experience leading or working in agile development teams

  • Familiarity with data protection regulations and compliance requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires BA in Computer Science or related field and a minimum 5 years of experience managing policies and procedures and implementing standards.

  • Spanish fluency may be required in certain business areas.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • 3+ years of experience in Data Governance, Compliance or Risk Management preferred.

  • Certifications in data governance or relevant technologies are preferred.

  • Experience in the healthcare claims processing industry and understanding of associated data security and privacy concerns is preferred.

  • Project management experience and skills are preferred.

  • Experience with Data governance technologies such as Collibra, Erwin, OvalEdge, Snowflake, and Immuta preferred.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and solution skills are preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage optimally with various levels of leadership, staff, and clients are preferred.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $100,480 to $150,720.
